  • What materials are SnailArmor tailgate panels made from? 
SnailArmor tailgate panels are crafted from high-quality 5052 aluminum, known for its exceptional strength, lightweight properties, and resistance to corrosion. This ensures a durable panel that will hold up to the elements.
  • What are the dimensions and weight of your tailgate panels?

The dimensions and weight vary by truck model. Each panel is designed to perfectly match the dimensions of the compatible tailgate while maintaining a lightweight profile for easy handling.

  • Is the textured black powder coating scratch-resistant?

The textured black powder coating is designed to provide a slight grip under your feet, improving safety and functionality. However, no paint is entirely scratch-resistant, so proper care is recommended to maintain its appearance.

  • Are SnailArmor tailgate panels weatherproof?

Yes, SnailArmor panels are weatherproof. The aluminum construction and powder coating resists rain, UV rays, and other environmental factors, making them perfect for outdoor use. With time and exposure, the paint will eventually start to fade.

  • Can I customize the panels design?

Yes, contact us with your design. Once we receive the artwork, we will review it and create a mock-up panel based on your request. After finalizing the artwork, we will provide you with a quote. To complete the process, we will send an invoice to collect payment and shipping information.

  • What type of artwork is needed for custom etching?

We require a high-resolution black-and-white image for custom etching. The design should not include any fades or gradients. Providing a vector file of your image is highly preferred for the best results. If you have any questions please contact us

  • How much does custom etching cost?

I charge .75 cents per minute the laser etcher runs plus a $25 set up fee. If you want to get a good guestimate of price you can multiply the square inches by .50 cents.

  • Can I get a panel without the SnailArmor Text/Logo?

I am very proud of what I have created and displaying my logo has a strong, professional look that will catch the eyes of potential customers and portray a positive image. Also because there is a logo it gives the impression that a business is trustworthy, compared to a non-branded cheap knockoff. That said I am open to removing the "SnailArmor" text leaving only the Snail Icon on the panel.

  • Can the panel be reversed?

Some Snail Armor panels can be reversed, and it's shocking to me that the majority of the panels are directional. We do countersink the top side and provide flat head screws to create the flattest panel possible. But you could flip some panels over and use the factory hardware, and in those cases, we etch both sides of the panel.

We offer panels for a wide range of popular truck models.

  • Can the tailgate panel be installed on aftermarket tailgates?

Our panels are designed for factory tailgates. If you have an aftermarket tailgate, contact us for guidance on compatibility.

  • Do I need to drill or modify my truck to install a SnailArmor panel?

No drilling or permanent modifications are required. Our panels use existing mounting points for easy installation.

  • Can I install a SnailArmor panel with other tailgate accessories?

Our panels were not design to pair with any additional accessories but if your cleaver enough you can make almost anything work.

  • What is the panel’s fitment tolerance?

SnailArmor panels are precision-engineered to ensure a perfect fit. Minor adjustments may be needed depending on your tailgate’s condition.

  • How do I install a SnailArmor tailgate panel?

Installation is simple and requires basic tools. Follow the included instructions or watch our installation video for step-by-step guidance.

  • Can I install the panel myself, or should I hire a professional?

Our panels are designed for DIY installation. If you prefer, a professional can install it for added peace of mind.

  • What should I do if the panel doesn’t fit properly?

First, ensure your truck model matches the panel’s specifications. Contact us for assistance if issues persist.

  • How do I clean and maintain my SnailArmor panel?

Use mild soap and water to clean your panel, I like to use simple green. Avoid abrasive cleaners or tools that could damage the powder coating.

  • What happens if my panel gets dented or scratched?

SnailArmor tailgate panels are designed to be used and abused, standing up to rugged off-road adventures. Dents and scratches are a natural part of their life and won’t affect performance.

Use Cases

  • Can I use the panel for cooking while camping?

Yes, the flat panel makes an ideal spot for setting up a camp stove and cooking your meals. The powder coating can withstand hot pots or pans placed directly onto it, making it a reliable surface for outdoor cooking.

Note: The powder coating is not food safe, please use a cutting board. Unless you like eating paint.
  • How durable is the panel for off-road use?

  • What are the benefits of a flat tailgate surface?

No, the flat surface often makes loading and unloading easier by eliminating uneven areas on the tailgate.

  • Are the panels suitable for overland setups?

Absolutely! SnailArmor panels integrate seamlessly with overland gear, providing a reliable platform for storage and cooking setups.

  • Does the weight of this product negatively affect the tailgate drop dampener when opening?

Since the Snail Armor Panel is only being a few pounds heavier than the stock configuration doesn't drastically affect the soft open feature.

Shipping & Returns

  • What is your current lead time?

I do my best to always have panels in stock. If you order a blank panel I should have it shipped within three business days. If a custom panel is requested it will require some additional days.

  • What is your shipping policy?

We ship across the United States and to select international locations. Shipping costs and delivery times vary by destination.

  • Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship to select countries. Additional customs fees or taxes may apply.

  • What happens if my order arrives damaged?

Inspect your package upon delivery. If it is damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos for a replacement or refund.

  • What is your return policy?
